90 MM AMTB - Typical Configuration.
There were a total of 12 of these weapons guarding the Delaware Bay entrance (8 at Fort Miles and 4 at Cape May).  The 90MM guns were installed at Fort Miles to replace the antiquated and often un-reliable 3" M1903 guns.

The Anti-Motor-Torpedo-Boat (AMTB) 90mm gun M1 on mount M3 was developed in 1941 to provide a weapon that was effective against fast torpedo boats, aircraft, and land targets. It could be controlled manually or automatically through a remote control system. A protective shield was installed around the gun and allowed crew access and gun loading through the rear.  Two batteries of four weapons each were installed at Fort Miles on the Delaware side (Battery 5A & Battery 5B), and one battery of four weapons was installed in Cape May, New Jersey (Battery 7).
