Configuration settings for POP or IMAP access with local e-mail client

If you are using an e-mail client program or wireless device to check your mail, you must configure it to check your fortmiles.org e-mail using the settings listed below.  If you need assistance, please contact me at michael.rogers@fortmiles.org or at
302-542-1233.

Before you can configure your local client, you must log in to your account online at http://mail.fortmiles.org

For POP Download configuration  (what is this?)
POP download configuration is useful if you do not want to keep messages on the remote server or you do not log in to the webmail application often.  Keeping messages on the remote server will eventually fill your 7GB quota, so with POP download, you will never fill your quota.  Use this option if you only check your e-mail from one computer, or if you are using a third party synch program.

After logging in to your account online, click on the "Settings" tab on the upper right corner of the screen.

On the settings menu, click on "Forwarding and POP/IMAP."

Select an "Enable POP" option in the POP Download section and click the Save Changes button at the bottom of the screen.  Now you are ready to configure your local e-mail client.

Click here for POP configuration settings.  Select your e-mail program from the list on the following page and follow the setup instructions.

For IMAP Access configuration  (what is this?)
IMAP access configuration is useful if you check your e-mail from multiple computers such as home and work.  IMAP access keeps all messages synchronized, so if you were to delete or move a message on your local machine, those changes would be reflected on your webmail application as well.  This option keeps messages on the webmail server, and will eventually fill your 7GB quota, so you will need to delete old messages when you approach capacity.

After logging in to your account online, click on the "Settings" tab on the upper right corner of the screen.

On the settings menu, click on "Forwarding and POP/IMAP."

Select "Enable IMAP" and click on the Save Changes button at the bottom of the screen.  Now you are ready to configure your local e-mail client.

Click here for IMAP configuration settings.  Select your e-mail program for the list on the following page and follow the setup instructions.
